The story of the chief prosecutor Dr. Klapka - a self-confident, cold-blooded, calculating man who lives in the comfort befitting his position - and his attractive wife. Dr. Klapka sues the factory owner Muller for murdering his brother and, years ago, his mistress for selfish reasons. The prosecutor has no direct evidence and must rely only on his oratory skills to propose the maximum sentence. In his desperate attempt to win the trial, he grabs at every straw. In this case, such a straw is a mysterious exotic stranger with alleged clairvoyant abilities to read the writer's character from a manuscript just by touching it with his fingers.

After moving to a new town, troublemaking teen Jim Stark is supposed to have a clean slate, although being the new kid in town brings its own problems. Jurácek's feature debut is shot in two parts. In the first, a corporal accompanies a new recruit with a sore Achilles tendon for his physical, and all the girls or young women they see are played by the same actress (Ruzickova). In the longer second segment, shot with the help of the Czechoslovakia army, the soldiers pass the time during basic training and maneuvers by talking about girls.

Five Girls Around the Neck, in 1967, set out to explore that critical age of adolescence when a person's character is formed for good or evil. Schorm examined a girl's problems of being giving too much. She tries to buy the goodwill of her less fortunate friends; her intentions are pure, but in the difficulty of communicating she learns envy and deceit, and must decide if she will submit to double dealing or steel her life against self-deception and mediocrity. In addition to the relationship between the girl and her friends, Schorm introduces a teenage romance and the broader relationship between the girl's parents - neatly tied together with segments of Weber's opera "Der Freischütz". He reveals himself as a skilled psychological director with a wide range of knowledge about people.
