The Accursed(en)

Surprised by an unexpected witness, robbers murder a woman who curses them. Little do they know of her connection with a treacherous sect indeed. Their chosen location to hide the loot turns out to be an adventure lodge where the owners are offered a talisman that supposedly grants wishes. Naively, they wish for a sum of money. Next day their beloved son unexpectedly dies. The exact sum they wished for is offered in accident insurance. Coincidence, or fate? The event lures the couple into a downward spiral. Meanwhile, the robbers are drawn to members of the sect who succeed in seducing and hideously murdering two of them, but one escapes. The owner comes upon the loot. It is again the exact same amount that he has rejected from the insurance company. Now convinced of the power of this amulet and incapable of escaping the consequences of their wish, the mother, gone mad, forces her husband to make a final wish: to bring their son back to life.

Love Finds You If You Call It(tr)

Chapter 14 of the series 18 decades of life in Mexico in the twentieth century. Images of the cultural, social and political life in Mexico from 1965 to 1969. Around the events that marked the last years of the sixties: Mexico hosts the Olympics, public universities living in crisis due to its rapid growth without adequate resources and the student movement arises. It is a time of great social differences that are opposed to the official image of prosperous and modern country.

The film is about the deceleration of motion in linear form and speed, establishing a connection between space and love. It ends with high-contrast photos with increasingly drastic color changes. This short film, inspired by Brakhage's Stellar film, was created by manipulating 1750 space photos in Photoshop along with grotesque paintings. Some frames contain black paintings by Francisco Goya, grotesque drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, grotesque engravings by William Blake. In order to refer to Brakhage's poetic style and understanding of storytelling in experimental cinema, two poems by Frank O'Hara and Kenneth Koch are placed in the beginning and end of the film.
