A project spanning three years of production and research, Lion is a collection of 7 short films exploring the Chernobyl disaster, the nature of radiation, memory, and personal history. Conceptually arranged in to a film “album”, Lion’s seven works navigate atomic fallout and a girl’s adolescence, a dream before death, radiation as a cause and cure for cancer, masculine bravado, feminine obsession, a trip to Chernobyl amongst the death of a matriarch, and the destruction of memory. Composed of seven works, Lion is a series of films created on 16mm and hand processed with darkroom techniques that mimic the effects of radiation on film. Researched in Chernobyl, the series is a product of memories, history, pop culture and technical experiments to create visual representations of invisible forces.

Travelling Hawkers in Frankfurt am Main(de)

A documentary about unemployed people who bought fruit and vegetables at moderate prices at the wholesale market and sold these in the streets of Frankfurt. Since they had no permits they were constantly with their bulky carts on the run from the police. One part of the film was shot at the fairgrounds in front of the wholesale market. Newspaper and lottery ticket vendors, propagandists offering their ware for a few pfennigs, all convey the mood of a time when need made people inventive.

Gumnaam: The Mystery(hi)

Mumbai-based model and aspiring actress, Ria (Mahima Chaudhary), meets with stuntman, Dev (Dino Morea), and both fall in love. Shortly thereafter, she gets an offer to act as a lead actress with renowned film-maker, Muni Gandhi, and accordingly re-locates to Shimla to start the filming. Enroute, she excitedly telephones Dev and tells him of the scenic surroundings as well as the echo of bells in a tunnel that emanate from a Hanumanji Mandir. When he asks about her location, she is unable to provide any, and the phone gets disconnected.
