With a vision that took him far beyond the genre of country rock, singer-songwriter Gram Parsons left his mark in gut-wrenching sentiments of country music, burning melodies typical of soul music, sweet, uplifting harmonies of gospel choirs and the hand-clapping boogie of rock and roll. Gram's daughter Polly organized this amazing gathering of his close friends and biggest fans for a Sin City tribute honoring this prince of longhair country boys. Once upon a time...it all began with Asleep at the Wheel. Willie Nelson may have done the original Austin City Limits pilot show, but "The Wheel" was the first act to perform on the first episode of the very first season in 1976. Over three decades later they still deliver their own special brand of jazz-inspired Western Swing to avid fans of every description coast-to-coast. The other half of the very first show also featured a historic reunion of the original members of Bob Wills Texas Playboys. What makes this particular program, recorded October 14, 1992, so special is that several of those original Playboys return to perform with Asleep at the Wheel. Pioneering electric guitarist Eldon Shamblin, singer Leon Rausch, pedal steel player Herb Remington and virtuoso fiddler Johnny Gimble wail away on such Wills' classics as "Corine, Corina," "Roly Poly," and "Blues for Dixie." Art in the Public Eye: The Making of Dark Star Park(en)

This piece documents the process behind the creation of Holt's major public art installation, Dark Star Park, in Arlington, Virginia. The park, which features giant concrete spheres and pipes, allows the visitor to reconsider the experience of space, earth and sky within an urban context. It also serves as a kind of contemporary Stonehenge: once a year, on August 1 at 9:30 am, the shadows of the objects exactly align with outlines on the ground. Interviews with the artist, the architects, engineers, contractors, and the public, among others, reveal Dark Star Park as both a public sculpture and a functioning park that reclaims a blighted urban environment.
