SOFTNOTES is a multi-hour music video block created for Black Entertainment Television. It debuted in the fall of 1987, and was created & produced by Alvin Jones, former host of Video Vibrations. This video block focused on the genre known as Smooth Jazz, mixed up with R&B, Soft Rock, & Easy Listening videos. this also showed the growing diversity of BET, and paved the way for other Jazz dedicated shows like "Sound & style w/Ramsey Lewis, and Jazz Central. Eventually the program would spin off the BET on Jazz digital cable channel, which is currently Centric. Softnotes remained on the air until 1991, and Paul Porter would host the remainder of the show until it went off the air in mid-late 1991. . Artists like Anita Baker, Kenny G, Najee, Jeff Lorber, Freddie Jackson, and numerous others had their videos shown on the program.

It was hastily created by NBC in response to the overwhelming ratings success of The $64,000 Question, which had premiered on CBS in Summer 1955 and almost instantly became a smash hit. The series was originally hosted by game-show entrepreneur Jack Barry through March 3, 1956, after which he was replaced by journalist Mike Wallace for the rest of the run.

Christopher Colt was apparently a gun salesman but was in fact a government agent tracking down notorious bad guys. Murder with Mirrors is a 1985 TV movie based on the Dame Agatha Christie mystery novel, They Do It with Mirrors, using the novel's US title. The film is set in a youth detention centre run by a charitable American educationalist in England. It stars Helen Hayes as Miss Marple and Bette Davis as her old American friend from their days touring Italy as young ladies. Miss Marple is called on to investigate possible causes of her friend's deteriorating health. However, as Miss Marple keeps her friend company, her attention is soon diverted as she stumbles over a dead body. A murderer is at large in a house of suspects, and a race against time begins. The film marks Helen Hayes' last appearance as Miss Marple; indeed, it was her last film role. The film also stars John Mills, Tim Roth, Leo McKern and Dorothy Tutin. The novel has since been dramatised twice more: first with Joan Hickson as Miss Marple for the 1980s series, and then with Julia McKenzie for Agatha Christie's Marple. Both of these used the novel's original title.
