It is narrated by actor and dancer Cory Bowles. The show was awarded the 2004 Gemini for Best Pre-school Program in 2004 and the Alliance for Children & Television Grand Prize in 2007.

It is a spin-off from the 1997 film of the same name. Returning from the film are the title character, Lapitch the mouse, and his girlfriend Lisa, along with their pets Brewster and Pico. For the series, a character called Melchior replaces Master Scowler's role. As of 2009, the show airs on Tiny Pop in the United Kingdom.
